History of Zion
Therefore thus says the Lord God, See, I am laying in Zion a foundation stone, a tested stone, a precious conerstone, a sure foundation . . . Isaiah 28:16
Zion Evangelical Lutheran
Congregation was founded and organized on December 13, under the German name of
"Evangelisch Lutherisch Zion" in the year, 1894. The original constitution, written in German, was rewritten in English in 1931. On February 16, 1895, the trustees of the Evangelical Lutheran Zion congregation bought Lot 19, Block 15 in the town of Dysart from Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Johnston. In the spring of 1895 a church was built, costing approximately $2,000.
During the history of the Zion
Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, 17 pastors have been installed as the
shepherd of the flock.
The small town agricultural congregation have formed our history for the past 115 years. Surely the richness of God's grace is apparent in this history as
He founded and kept the congregation solidly on the Chief Cornerstone, our
Savior Jesus Christ.
